Here’s the wondefull and emotional best man’s and maid of honor’s speech

“Hello everyone.

For those of you who don’t know us, let us introduce ourselves: I’m Davide, Ema’s Best Man, and I’m Arianna, Giulia’s Maid of Honor.

Before I start we start our speech, we wanted to thank Giulia and Ema, their parents, and everyone who contributed to organizing this. It’s been absolutely amazing. I also just wanted to point out how beautiful everybody looks. Giulia in particular you are absolutely stunning.

Ok so…there comes a time in everyone’s life when a man meets their one true love, their soul mate. Someone who is going to love them for the rest of his life. For Emmanuel that moment came 13 years ago, when he met me!

Arianna and I met Emmanuel in high school. Us two, him and a good number of people here tonight were in the same class. Since them, Emmanuel was what you would call, an exuberant guy. He has two degrees, he’s lived in 4 countries and has met a lot of interesting people. So obviously there are really too many stories that we should talk about.

But nonetheless, while working on this speech we kept thinking how we don’t really know many of the guests here tonight; and we were thinking how terrible it would be for us to embarrass him and Giulia by bringing up some story that turns out to be inappropriate!

So we’re thinking and thinking, going through stories that could be appropriate for such a special occasion: “maybe we should talk about the time he pretended for a week to have a 6 year old son, just to impress a girl?!” No, no I can’t tell that one, it’s not appropriate. No, no.

Ok, so maybe we should talk about that time we snuck into an art museum at night just to have a look around. No of course not, why would we even think that that’s appropriate?! Of course not.

Fine, then what about that time? No, not appropriate. Not something we should be talking about. Come on!

Ok better not bring up any specific stories.

So as I said we knew Ema since high school. And our group of friends pretty much remained the same throughout. But then something happened: during university there was this thing called snow break which is essentially an organized ski trip for college students: during the day you ski, at night you party and mingle with all the other students. We decided to go with all our friends. And you see in university, boys take up this hobby that occupies most of their time: girls. And of course, finding girls was also a major component of this snow-break.

In fact, at one of these parties we are having fun and being stupid and at one point we see these two girls: one dark haired and the other blonde. We go up to them, we say hi, then we say some stupid thing I don’t remember. The blonde girl does not look impressed. But Ema insisted. So both girls start looking around for a way out, but the Ema insists. In the end, out of desperation, the blond girl gave Emmanuel her number, and finally we let them leave. They left, but Ema managed to have the blonde girl’s number. And you know what, after a while the dark-haired girl disappeared and through the years there have been other dark-haired girls; but somehow the blond girl stuck around, and we haven’t managed to get rid of her since. In fact, she’s become one of our best and closest friends.

Now, as you would expect, we’ve essentially spent all of last week worrying about this speech, but the whole point of it only really occurred to us recently, and that is that nobody could possibly stand here and feel more proud and honored than Arianna and I to be able to represent the two of you today – the most important day of your life.

Giulia, Emmanuel, we have been very lucky to have had you as our friends for such a big part of our life. And we can only imagine how lucky you are to have each other’s love and support. Our wish to you is for today to simply be a continuation of everything you have built together up to now, and for this to be the beginning of a new and exciting chapter of your life.

Also, if you have lots of babies, we’ll be happy to babysit. But only if we can take videos and put them on YouTube.
